How the Waypointer route bot handles data from the Mining Cult Discord server. Last updated October 19, 2026.
What the bot does
The bot reads the route-sharing forum in the Mining Cult Discord server. When a post has the Upload tag, it finds the route in the post and publishes it on waypointermod.com, credited to the route's maker: whoever started the post, or whoever the post names as the maker (for example "Made by @name"). The maker is shown by their server nickname, which in Mining Cult is their Minecraft name, or by the name the post gives. Posts without the tag are never uploaded. Adding the tag is how you ask for your route to be shared (opt-in).
What it reads
- Every post in the forum: its title, who started it, its tags and when it was made, so the bot notices when the Upload tag is added.
- Posts with the Upload tag: the messages the poster wrote in the post (text, attached files and paste links), to find the route and any "made by" credit. Replies from other people are ignored.
- Server nicknames of the poster or the credited maker, used as the route's author name.
What gets published
On waypointermod.com, for anyone to see: the route's waypoints, the post's title, up to 500 characters of the post's text, the author name, and a Mining Cult tag that marks the route as shared from Discord rather than from the game.
What's kept, and for how long
- Published routes stay up until the post is deleted, loses the Upload tag, or you remove them yourself.
- The bot's own records of a published post (title, author, tags, where the route was found) are kept while the route is up. When the Upload tag is removed, everything but the post's title and who started it is erased. When the post is deleted, everything but its Discord id is erased.
- Server nicknames are kept for at most a day.
- An activity log for the site's admins (for example, which post was uploaded and by whom) keeps only its latest 200 entries.
All of it is stored encrypted on Cloudflare. Nothing is sold, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare runs the bot and waypointermod.com, and stores their data.
- Anthropic: when a route doesn't say which island it's for, the post's title, up to 1,500 characters of its text, its tags and a sample of its waypoints are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to choose one. Under Anthropic's commercial terms this isn't used to train models, and Anthropic deletes it within 30 days.
Removing your data
- Remove the Upload tag or delete the post. The route comes off waypointermod.com within about a minute (within a day if the post was archived).
- Run
/forgetin the Mining Cult server, or, if you've left or can't use the server, sign in with Discord here. Either one shows the routes it will remove and asks you to confirm, then takes down every route the bot uploaded from your posts or from posts that credit you, and deletes everything the bot kept about you, right away. The bot won't read those posts again; to share a route later, make a new post with the Upload tag.
You're matched by your Discord account, never by name, so routes someone else published under the same or a similar name are never affected. Signing in here shares only your Discord account ID and name with us; they're used for that one request and not stored.
Edits to a published post are picked up within 6 hours, or within a day if the post is archived.
